There is nothing more painful than gout, and I know first hand how awful this pain can be.
If often affects the big toe, foot, and major joints like shoulders, knees, and elbows.
Gout is a condition that occurs when too much uric acid is circulating in the blood.
This condition, mostly plaques men, but women is also troubled with it.
Another arthritic condition is rheumatoid arthritis or RA for short. The joints swell and deform in the body due to inflammation.
Both conditions are inflammatory in nature, but both have always been categorized differently. However, new research shows that the two may be connected.
Understanding Uric Acid
Uric acid is formed from the breakdown of the body’s cells and from the food that I consume each day.
It is my bodily waste product that moves throughout the blood, and high levels cause problems.
A high presence of this type of acid can be either genetic or caused by kidney disease. Mine tends to be more genetic in nature.
Most of this acid is filtered out of my body through the kidneys, but in some cases, the body is unable to flush the higher levels, and a buildup of acid occurs.
Certain drugs, like diuretics and aspirin, can aggravate the condition. My doctor believes that mine came from years of using aspirin for headaches and my genetic history.
When high levels of uric acid are in the blood, tiny crystals form within the joints.
They cause tophi, which is tiny lumps that form of the lumping crystals. In this area, there can be severe swelling and intense pain.
If uric acid levels are too high, then kidney stones or kidney failure can occur.
Though I have been fortunate and never had kidney failure, I have experienced many kidney stones.
Oftentimes, people who are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation may have a problem with gout. As these treatments destroy cancer cells, they leak large amounts of uric acid into the blood.
Understanding Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis is a condition that affects more than 1.5 million people in this country. It is an autoimmune condition where the body attacks its own tissues.
This abnormal response of the immune system is not fully understood, but researchers cannot deny the parallels between the inflammation of gout and the swelling in rheumatoid arthritis.
Could high levels of uric acid be to blame for both medical ailments?
What is Gouty Arthritis?
If you have constant flare-ups, your doctor will classify your condition as gouty arthritis. This inflammation is very much like the inflammation found in RA.
It is often confused for rheumatoid because of these similarities. When a person has recurrent attacks of acute inflammatory arthritis and gout, they are said to have gouty arthritis.
The most commonly affected joint is the metatarsal-phalangeal, which is at the base of the big toe.
However, the hands are most commonly involved in rheumatoid arthritis.
Podagra is the warmth, swelling, pain, and tenderness is an affected joint. Gout can start suddenly and increase with intensity rather quickly.
Some people are unable to tolerate even a sheet touching their affected area.
Are Uric Acid Levels To Blame For Rheumatoid Arthritis?
Gout can look a great deal like rheumatoid arthritis as it causes abnormal swelling in the joint, which makes them look deformed.
It has also been found that some untreated gout can be linked to a positive test for rheumatoid factor. This is an antibody that is commonly detected in the blood of those who suffer from RA.
A recent study was conducted by the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany.
Because both conditions are inflammatory in nature, there are some parallels.
Gout forms in the joints, bones, and other tissues in the body from uric acid. Gouty arthritis, the chronic form, often affects the joint in the big toe. Rheumatoid arthritis also affects the joints, tissues, and other organs.
The study evaluated 100 women who had RA for more than 10 years.
They were surprised to find that 13 percent of the patients had high levels of uric acid in their body. A scan was used to find these acid deposits in their feet.
The evidence is shocking, and it may show a direct connection between the buildup of these acids and both RA and gout. Their study showed that it was possible to have both conditions.
Controlling RA and Gout Naturally
I have taken numerous prescriptions for arthritis. However, I found that they lasted for the short-term.
Some of the drugs didn’t work at all, while others left me with side effects that were worse than the original problem.
I was introduced to a modified diet and taking supplements to help remove the acid from the body.
Rather than masking the pain, the goal is to remove the acid from the blood.
Cherry juice is an excellent way to rid uric acid from the body.
Cherries have anti-inflammatory that has been used in holistic medicine for years. Some herbs that may help include turmeric root, elderberry, alfalfa, apple cider vinegar, and many others.
Along with things that would help, I also had to learn about things that would hurt me.
Foods high in purine cause a lot of problems. Things like tuna, haddock, trout, herring, and scallops are only eaten in moderation these days.
When purine breaks down in the body, it creates uric acid. Other foods that have purine in them are chicken, spinach, cauliflower, mushrooms, asparagus, and lentils.
By losing weight, avoiding alcohol, and eating a low purine diet, you will be able to better control your flares.
When you feel, your toe, starting to get stiff and warm, you should know that some cherry juice and a few other herbs can do the trick.
So, those who suffer from RA will also benefit from removing the excessive uric acid in their bodies and relieving some of the inflammation.
What I mentioned here is LESS than 2% of what you should do to reduce inflammation and relieve pain
You are just fighting symptoms with these advices.
The key is to remove the source of the problem.
It’s not false… I can tell you for my own experience.
The pain was so excruciating. Sometimes it felt like burning, other times it felt like throbbing — throbbing so bad that you can’t think about anything else.
But one day I found a Natural Treatment.
Thanks to this Natural Treatment, the pain is gone and now I can have a normal life.
If you want to follow the same treatment…
